Special Note: Indira Gandhi National Open University has started admission for IGNOU PhD, IGNOU BEd, IGNOU Post Basic Nursing for the session January 2023. 

Indira Gandhi National Open University, or IGNOU, will start admission to the UG and PG programs like BA, BCom, MSc, MA, etc., in two cycles January and July. The application form fee in IGNOU differs but starts from INR 300 in specialized programs. Currently, the IGNOU assignment submission is ongoing for December TEE, students must submit till 15 December 2022. 

Indira Gandhi National Open University has announced the application deadline for the BEdPhD & BSc Nursing entrance exams. Applications for BSc Nursing and BEd entrance exams will be extended till December 25, 2022. Registration for the entrance test is now open on the official website- ignou.ac.in. IGNOU January 2023 entrance examinations cost Rs 1,000.

Registration Fee: The application fee for the general category applicant in IGNOU January 2023 session is INR 300. For the particular admission cycle, the University has published a notification for the exemption of fees. The fee exemption shall be available for only SC/ST students who can claim the offer on only one program.

IGNOU Admission 2023 January Session

IGNOU Admission 2023 started for the January session. The university opened the admission gates for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, diplomas, as well as certificate programs such as BA, BSc, BBA, MA, MCom, MSc, and more. 

Interested candidates can use either the online Samarth portal or regional centre (offline) mode to apply for the preferred program before 31 January 2023. The maximum entries in the distance programs of IGNOU are proposed on the basis of the previous qualifying exam. Though, Some specialized programs like BEd, PhD, etc, require a valid performance in the university, or other entrance exams of approved level.

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU Admission Courses

Certificate Programme: Students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board in order to get eligible for certificate programs.  

Diploma Programme: Students who have passed intermediate with 50% aggregate are eligible to apply. Graduates who are willing to join diploma programs can also apply.

Bachelor’s Degree Programme: For BA, B.Com and B.Sc, one must have passed 10+2 with the relevant subjects from a recognized board. 

Master’s Degree Programme: For MA, M.Com, and M.Sc, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or higher from a standard university. 

B.LIS course: Aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Students who have either a diploma or two years of working experience in the library field, along with an undergraduate degree, are eligible to apply for B.LIS. 

PhD program: Students must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in Masters or M.Phil degree. Also, IGNOU takes entrance examination for admission to PhD programs.


MBA program: Aspirants must have passed bachelor with 50% marks. For the reserved category, it is 45%. In addition, the OPENMAT entrance examination won’t be a part of MBA admission at IGNOU. The selection will be based on the marks scored in previous education.

B.Ed course: Students who have done Bachelor’s from any discipline are eligible to apply for B.Ed. Along with a bachelor’s degree, aspirants must have to sit for the entrance examination to get shortlisted for B.Ed admission.

IGNOU UG Admission 2023

IGNOU Admission UG 2023 will soon commence for undergraduate programs, e.g., BA Hons Psychology, BA Hons Sociology, BCA, BLIS, BCom, BSc Hons Anthropology, Bachelor of Social Work, and more. The admission process for the mentioned programs will close on 31 January 2023.

Admission to the UG degree, certificate, and diploma programs is typically based on the performance of the qualifying exam. Admission to the BEd degree program however is granted on the valid scores of entrance exams.

Candidates who want to apply for any program at the undergraduate level have to follow either the offline or online mode. The confirmation for admission to the IGNOU UG degree program is sent to the registered email id of applicants.

IGNOU PG Admission 2023

IGNOU PG Admission programs started on 28 December 2022. Admission to the IGNOU PG degree programs such as MCom, MEG, MAH, MPS, MPA, MLIS, etc., can be made with regional centre or Samarth options (offline or online). The last date to submit the IGNOU admission PG application form is 31 January 2023.

PG Admission to the above-mentioned master programs is based on the performance of a qualifying exam. The PG applicants can check the status of IGNOU admission by using the Enrolment Number, and Date of Birth (DOB) over official online portal.

IGNOU Application Form 2023

IGNOU Admission 2023 for Online Programmes

IGNOU offers various online programs for students who wish to join the programs in an online mode. Currently, there are forty two online programs active for the session in January 2023 and many more programs will be added in the future. The mode of admission to various online programs will be online only.

IGNOU Online Courses

Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission in forty two academic programmes through Online Mode from January 2023 session. UGC approves these programmes. IGNOU Centre for Online Education offered B.COM, BSW, BCA, MCA, MBA BLIS, BTS, MAGPS, MATS (MA in Translation Studies), MHD ( Master of Arts (Hindi), and 10 more programmes through online learning.
